Teeth staining is inevitable. No matter how well you brush and floss your teeth, they may start to appear dull or yellowish over time due to various factors. Some of the prominent causes of teeth discoloration are excessive consumption of colored food, irregular or improper oral hygiene, chewing tobacco, smoking cigarettes, gum diseases, etc. Irrespective of what the cause is, we have the perfect solution to this oral concern.
What are the types of teeth staining?
The stains on the teeth can be distinguished as intrinsic and extrinsic staining. Extrinsic stains are caused due to reasons such as smoking, consuming a lot of beverages and colored foods, etc. They only affect the outer enamel and are comparatively easier to remove. On the other hand, intrinsic stains are usually caused due to aging, excessive fluoride in drinking water, or oral conditions such as root canal infection.
What are your teeth whitening options?
Conventional whitening:It is the simplest and widely preferred type of teeth whitening. We use a whitening gel that contains hydrogen peroxide, which is a bleaching agent used in almost all teeth whitening products. We will thoroughly clean your teeth to remove the food debris or adhered tartar before commencing the procedure. A rubber dam will be placed on them to protect the gums and prevent the gel from coming in contact with it. The whitening gel will be applied on the teeth and spread evenly. It will be rinsed off after a few minutes, and the procedure may be repeated to get a better level of whitening.
Customized take-home kits:A take-home whitening kit consists of customized whitening trays fabricated to fit perfectly on your teeth. It will also contain a prescribed whitening gel, which you can use along with the trays. You can take the kit home and use it comfortably. You should squeeze a small amount of whitening gel into the trays and spread it evenly. Put the trays on the teeth and let them be for a few minutes. The whitening gel will continuously be in contact with the teeth, and the trays prevent the saliva from coming in contact with the gel. This method is known to provide excellent results.
Laser teeth whitening:This method uses a photosensitive whitening gel with an activating laser. The gel will be applied on the teeth and activated using the light of the right intensity. This speeds up the process and produces a foam filled with oxygen molecules, which penetrate the porous structure of the enamel. Laser teeth whitening produces impressive results in a short duration, and the effect of the whitening lasts for a considerably long time.
